WE NEED YOUR HELP

One of Germany’s oldest forests is about to be destroyed for charcoal!

The Hambacher Forst is 12,000 years old and the oldest trees about 350 years old and is home to many animals and plants.

But now the energy company RWE wants to clear it to get charcoal for coal-fired Power stations.

There are 150 activists that try to save it but get brutally dispelled by 3500 policemen. 17 got arrested, many got hurt.

Please, sign the petition to stop the clearing!

I’m sorry that it’s German, I hope it also works for those who don’t understand German or live in Germany.

It’s happening, it’s real, right now.

Another example of the police protecting business interests and not the interests of the public, or even the interests of our planet.

Please share this, sign the petitions, talk about it, it can’t go unheard or unseen.

THIS!

This is the election that counts. Start educating yourself now on who will be campaigning to be your congresspeople/governor/etc.

Register to vote NOW. Don’t wait. You can do it any time.

This is the fight we need to win.  VOTE

VOTE

VOTE

Also
reminder to pay attention to all local elections and VOTE. These elected officials are the people most likely to directly impact your life in the short term.

This has to start now. Right now.

Get your birth certificates. There may be a fee or long wait times. Make sure you get a certified copy.

Make sure you have ID. Dig into your state’s laws and the whole Real ID thing, because (and sorry I can’t research this now, but pneumonia) I believe there are certain states whose driver’s licenses don’t qualify for Real ID.

Make sure you’re registered to vote. Google it. Follow the instructions for your state.

Know where your local polling place is or find out if you can vote by mail.

Vote in ALL your upcoming elections. Yes, that means the little ones for city council or dog catcher or whatever. Vote those racist, homophobic, bigots out at every level.

They’re like weeds. You can pull up every visible bit, but if you leave one tiny segment of root, they’ll just come back.

To quote Mira Grant, rise up while you can. Because the Republicans are way the hell worse than zombies.

Here’s how to check which district you’re in and who your rep is.

Here’s how to find out if you’re registered.

Here are the deadlines for when to register.

Here’s how to register, if it turns out you’re not.

Here’s how to find local polling places.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST!

Think about why it’s illegal to hire a hit man.

All you’re really doing is speaking and giving someone money.

It’s legal to speak.

It’s legal to give someone money.

Even if they actually complete the job, you’re not the one who committed the murder.

So why is it illegal to hire a hit man?

Could it be because inciting violence is not protected under free speech?

And if that’s the case, why should free speech protect Nazis advocating genocide?

Never reblogged something harder in my life

Rough translation:

“Excuse me, sweet thing, how do I get to PanamĂ©rica? Do you know?”

“Yes. Turn right up there,

and go straight to Hell.”

(She actually tells him to go to his sister’s p—y, which is a way more powerful image, but it doesn’t sound right in English.)

Unite the Good White People.

rafi-dangelo:

A year after the Tiki Torch Marches and Charlottesville is still wrestling with how their city is being perceived, but I’ve never thought that the Unite the Right rally defines Charlottesville.

It defines the United States.

Good White People were just shocked that so many of their skinfolk were in a big gathering saying out loud what the rest of us had heard in microaggressions, regular harassment, and political dogwhistles our entire lives.

It would be nice if I could close this little musing with “but at least Good White People caught up quickly and are fighting the good fight with us” but then I had to spend a whole year watching them fall all over themselves writing “we’re better than they are” thinkpieces about not being mean to Nazis and stooping to their level.

The only thing that has changed between Charlottesville and today is that Good White People’s polite complacency has allowed bigots cut from this same cloth to win Republican primaries all over the country. If they worried less about whether it’s okay to punch a Nazi in the face, we wouldn’t be looking at an administration who wants to put a stop to legal immigration because Amerikkka has gotten too brown for them and they know Good White People will never be brazen enough to push back effectively.

I don’t know what it would take to get all the Good White People off the couch and on the phones to their elected officials to walk out of every vote, to force an impeachment, to stand up to this administration in ways other than Forcefully Worded Tweets. A *white woman* died in Charlottesville and nothing happened. There should be no “close races” in any congressional district – they should all be blowouts because Good White People should be running to the polls, but we’re still seeing abysmal turnouts on both sides of the aisle. I don’t care how many racists and bigots stay at home – I care about the MAJORITY of Good White People who still are not voting in these Congressional races that we’ve seen.

Y’all have until November to convince your like-minded skinfolk to go do something. The entire makeup of congress would change if every self-proclaimed Good White Person would actually vote, but y’all’s track record inspires zero confidence in me.

So, the United States will continue to be defined by the Unite the Right rally. Our marches may have larger numbers, but theirs galvanizes greater passion and political participation – which is why they are running the country.
